Sept 10...

Score!

400 Square feet of maple boards to redo the kitchen floors.

Not just any maple boards ... they're salvaged from a 220yr old church in Brown's Flat.

10" wide, 1" thick and 10 feet long... Try finding that at Home Depo.

Downside was having to deal with J.T. (name withheld to protect the guilty) again... the same guy that was paid to refinish my boat last summer. What a character, it's hard to tell if he's still alive or just well preserved.

Anyway, well worth the hassle. We're going to put these down in the spring, being careful to not "overfinish" them. Hopefully they'll look like nice wide board pine, but with the durability of rock maple. With a name like "rock maple", it must be real tough... like Chuck Norris.
