Oct 20th...
Sailed that trollop Ms Fortune from Kate's cottage to the RKYC. Last time out for the season, and it was the longest sail I'd taken her out for yet. Nice winds headed from Sand Point to about Greenhead, then someone must've tuned the wind off at about 330 PM or so. Drifted for a bit and enjoyed a tasty beverage and a granola bar before motoring towards the docks. By then in my t-shirt & shorts... a gorgeous day. Of course, as soon as another boat came near, the motor quit and refused to start. I eventually managed to coax it back to life using the appropriate cursing/pleading ratio.

The wretch pulled the same trick a few days later, in the piss-pouring rain and foul wind, when I was motoring towards the crane that was to pull her out. I had just untied, and thrown it in reverse when the outboard quit, and I just barely managed to jump, tumble and stretch to the dock, narrowly averting being blown into a fully-crewed boat worth more than my neighborhood. They smiled.
I've decided that the outboard simply needs to sit in the garage for the winter, thinking about how it behaved. Then, in the spring, it will fire on the first pull and never so much as hiccup again. Makes sense, eh?
That, or I'll use it to beat a 4' hole in the side of the boat, sink it off Minister's Face, and pretend I've never owned a boat.
